TRAIL RUN ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS & MAPS

18km Trail Run Route Map.jpg

18km Trail Run:

An easy meandering start through a lovely ravine, with beautiful single track amongst pine trees and fynbos for about 4km will bring you to your major climb of the day. Jeep track for the first part and then an even more interesting and lovely single track section awaits you halfway up. By this time the field will be well spread and no congestion problems should occur. Once at the top, there's actually a couple of tops to enjoy ... you will be treated to fantastic views all around that will seemingly just never stop! Now, after hitting the real top you’ll traverse in a westerly direction towards Rio de Janeiro. The correct direction is with the 14Km guys....they need it more. Before you get there, scaling the mountain in an elegant yet sporty fashion, you will join with the 14km route runners, or they will join you, whoever is there last, and soon you’ll be dodging, dancing and tip-toeing to the finish…what a joy! Congrats!

14 Km Trail Run:

This is a beautiful, newly crafted, gentle run/hike/walk, call it what you like, starting through a lovely ravine, with beautiful single track amongst pine trees and fynbos, slightly uphill with an interesting gorge your companion for most of the first part....then on the one side and then on the other...zig-zagging your way into open space - truly spectacular. At the split, 14km runners go left, 8km fairies go right. Now you will head up another newly laden track. Man, this beautiful! Gradually winding your way upwards, you will find yourself at Sopieshoogte just in time and ready to freshen up with drinks and some more drinks and just enjoy the views. There's actually a couple of tops to enjoy. You will be treated to fantastic views all around that will seemingly just never stop! Now, after hitting the real top you’ll traverse a westerly direction towards Uruquay, city of La Paloma. Before you get there, scaling the mountain in a not- on- all-4-hands-knees-and-feet-fashion, you will join up with the 18km route runners. Be kind to them please...Soon you’ll be, apart from watching their backsides, find yourself going down a glorious trail with marvellous views....whistling, dancing and doing anything the heck you wanna do all the way back to the finish… what a joy! Congrats!

8km Trail Run:

A little something for the young ones and the young at heart, but older otherwise! Warning.....don't loose your kid here... they'll be tempted to hide or run away, unless of course it will be a relief! Halfway, just before the water point, marks the highest point of the route and from now on it’s all downhill back to the finish line with minor little bumps here and there. Very easy, and the kids will love it!
